Overview

United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley works collaboratively with partners throughout Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties to identify community needs and address their underlying causes. United Way then invests resources (financial, in-kind and volunteer) in programs and initiatives that address these core needs, and that have lasting and measurable results on community conditions. We do this by building partnerships, forging consensus, and leveraging resources to make a difference in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties.

We currently fund 63 programs within our Community Impact Fund (46 unique community organizations). These programs support a wide population. Through the United Way’s Impact Fund, financial donations are put to work addressing three priority program areas within Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties:

Education - Helping children, youth and adults achieve their potential
Income - Promoting Financial Stability and Independence
Health - Improving People’s Health and Independence

HandsOn Mid-Willamette Valley

Many of UW’s functions (including campaign and fund allocation) are, and always have been, volunteer driven.  Another key program of the United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley is HandsOn Mid-Willamette Valley. Based on best practices developed through the Points of Light Institute, the center is a ”one-stop-shop” for recruiting, training and retaining volunteers, not only for United Way driven-programs, but for all community-based organizations within our tri-county service area.  HandsOn MWV offers people an opportunity to express interest in and be matched with volunteer opportunities based on their time, talents and interests.
